State of Georgia Jefferson County In the name of God, Ame, I, Robert Patterson, Sr. of the State and County aforesaid, being in good health and of a sound mind and judgement taking into consideration my mortality ordain this my last will and testament as follows: 1st. I commit my soul into the hands of God, my Redeemer, and my body to be decently buried. 2nd. I will unto my son, William, one negro boy named Henry and all other property he hath received. 3rd. I will unto my son, John, one negro boy named David and all other property he hath received. 4th. I will unto Andrew Barry Lawson one dollar and to his two children, Roger McGill and Eleanor Wright, I will one negro girl named Charity and one hundred dollars. 5th. I will unto William Little, my son-in-law, one negro girl named Diner and her issue and two hundred dollars. 6th. I will unto my son-in-law, Samuel Fleming, one negro women named Pat and her issue and fifty dollars. 7th. I will unto my son-in-law, Thomas Wigham, one negro girl named Esther and her issue and one hundred dollars. 8th. I will unto my son, James, two negroes named George and Washington, and a bed and furniture and the mare he claims. 9th. I will unto my daughter, Eleanor, one negro girl named Rose and two hundred and fifty dollars and a bed and furniture. 10th. I will unto my son, Robert, two negro boys named Prince and Anthony, my large Bible, a bed and furniture and a mare. 11th. I will unto my daughter, Margaret Sarah, one negro girl named Marget, three hundred dollars, a bed and furniture. 12th. I will unto my daughter, Eliza, one negro girl named Sylvia, and three hundred and fifty dollars, a bed and furniture. 13th. I will the land whereon I now live to my two sons, James and Robert, to be divided by a straight line running across on the east side of the big pond next to my son, William, as the fence now runs, leaving the buildings and plantation to my youngest son, Robert, and the rest of it to James; in case Robert should dies before he comes of age to dispose of it, then the whole is to belong to my son, James. 14th. I will that my land in Burke County be sold immediately after my decease any way executors of my will shall think best. 15th. I will all the rest of my property to my five youngest children: James, Eleanor, Robert, Margaret Sarah and Eliza. 16th. I will that William Patterson, john Patterson and William Little be my executors. 17th. I will to each of my executors one hundred dollars for their trouble in carrying this my last will and testament finally and fully into effect. In testimony whereof I have here unto set my hand and affixed my seal the 25th day of May in the year of our Lord 1822. Witnesses: (signed) Robert Patterson Phillip Thomas Elijah Anderson Elisha Campbell Witnesses swore to above signatures in open court march 19, 1824. (Robert Patterson died March 14, 1824). Recorded September 26, 1826 in Jefferson County, Georgia. Robert Patterson died on March 14, 1824 at age 64. He was buried at Ebenezer Presbyterian Cemetery, Louisville, Jefferson County, GA. |
