He was the subject of the following sketch at The Biographical and Historical Memoirs of Southern Arkansas, pp 136-137,: "William T. Dickson farmer, Arkadelpha, Ark. In this history of Clark County in its development, growth and continued advance to a community of wealth and influence, Mr. Dickson has borne a prominent part. He owes his nativity to Pike County of this State, his birth occuring December 6, 1849 and is the son of Leroy and Mary A. (White) Dickson. The father was born in Jackson County, Tenn. about (1823) and was a farmer by occupation. He came to Arkansas with his parents when about (eight) years of age and settled with them in Pike County where he was reared to farm life. This 'has been' (was) his chief pursuit since. By his marriage to Miss White he became the father of eleven chldren, six sons and five daughters, all living: Alwilda (wife of I.B.H. Wall), James W., William T., Pleasant W., Nancy A. (wife of H. Davenport), Martha (wife of J.H. Stell), Thomas J., John F., Mary E. (wife of Frank Wingfield), Leroy Allen and Emily (wife of Add Threlkeld). The father was a member of the Christian Church and died June 2, 1886. The mother now resides in Pike County, Ark. She is a member of the Christian Church. William T. Dickson was reared principally in Pike County, Ark. and on August 3, 1870 was married to Miss Mary S. Parsons daughter of John and Eletha (Sewell) Parsons. This union resulted in the birth of four children: Walter (deceased), Eletha A., Cornelia B. and Maud. Mrs. Dickson was born in Cherokee County, Ala., April 3, 1847. Her father was a native of Tennessee born about 1804 and died about 1842. He was a planter all his life and was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. The mother was born in 1805 and died in 1883. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Mr. Dickson is the owner of 132 acres of good farming land three miles west of Arkadelphia but he left this in 1889 and moved to Arkadelphia to educate his children. He and wife are members of the Baptist Church and in politics, he is a Democrat." He was a farmer. His farm was 3 miles west of Arkadelphia. In 1889 he moved to Arkadelphia to educate his children. |

He was the subject of the following sketch at Memorabilia No. 1,: "Near the Three Forks of the Little Missouri in the region where Murfreesboro now stands, there settled at an early date - previous to 1820 - a man named Dickson [our subject], who came from Tennessee. He had a numerous family, including David, William, Samuel, John and Bradley. All of them were industrious, hard working honest men. They all died there except Bradley Dickson, who moved to Texas. David S. Dickson, one of the sons, was quite a successful man and acquired some property. He was the first Clerk of Pike County, and served many successful terms in the office. In his day he probably had more political influence than any man in the county. He has been dead nearly forty years." According to an article in the Pike County GEMS-VI.1/95 the family moved to Tennessee from Kentucky about 1803. "David Dickson settled in Hempstead (now Pike) county, Arkansas west of the "three forks" of the Little Missouri about 1825. He was from Jackson County, Tennessee and had a numerous family including: John, William T., Samuel A., Sion Bradley, and David Simpson Dickson; Sarah (Sally) Dickson who never married; Mary Dickson the wife of Isaac White; Elizabeth Dickson the wife of William T. Hancock; and Lydia Dickson the wife of Abner Handly Hancock. The Sion Bradley Dickson family, moved to Cumby, Texas and the Abner Handly Hancock family of Wolf Creek in Pike county, Arkansas (a neighbor of the William Kelley family) with son-in-law Benjamin F.
