Washington D. Funderburk was born circa 1817. [One source has the birth date as 1812. Another source has his birth date as 1799.]. He was the son of John Funderburk and Lucy Wilson. Washington D. Funderburk died circa 1843.       One source states that Washington D. either served in the War of 1812 or the Creek Indian War since he is listed with "Stewarts" Company in the lottery drawing for land in 1827. He drew Lot 264 Dist. 11, Sec 2 in Troup Co GA (p121). That probably accounts for his sizable estate at the time of death. However, there is no way this Washington Funderburk could have done so! He is shown as born either in 1817 or 1812. If the first date is correct then he wasn't born until after the war. If the second date is correct he would have been a baby. It is likely the Washington listed with the "Stewarts" Company was George Washington Funderburk (b. 1792) and not Washington D. The size of his estate must have been for other reasons. "Washington D. Funderburk, 'late of Barbour Co AL,' whose estate is mentioned when William L. of Floyd County GA, applied for administration of the estate in January 1844. To have had an estate sufficient to require administration in 1844 he must have been one of the first 3 generations of Funderburks" (BHW). It is assumed his middle name was Devauld after his grandfather, and his first name, Washington, after his uncle, George Washington Funderburk.

George W. Funderburk was born on September 17, 1832 at GA. He was the son of William L. Funderburk and Susan Long. George W. Funderburk died in September, 1895 at CO.

Mary Ann Funderburk was born on April 27, 1835. She was the daughter of William L. Funderburk and Susan Long. Mary Ann Funderburk married James J. Lowery on June 15, 1854 at DeKalb County, GA.      He moved to Texas. A Mrs. Parsons at Smithville, Texas was a granddaughter.

Nancy Dawson Funderburk was born on November 27, 1837. She was the daughter of William L. Funderburk and Susan Long. Nancy Dawson Funderburk married Fountain Mosley Forrester on February 18, 1872. Nancy Dawson Funderburk died on May 4, 1925 at age 87.

John Harrison Funderburk was born on December 23, 1841 at Macon, GA. He was the son of William L. Funderburk and Susan Long.      He was a farmer      He served four years in Cavalry from Alabama in the Civil War; Company E Lewis Battalion Alabama Cavalry.      He outlived his third wife by 18 years and died of pneumonia. John Harrison Funderburk married Lettie Jane Reid on March 18, 1865 at Cullman County, AL. John Harrison Funderburk married Missouri Gossett in 1875 at Cullman County, AL. John Harrison Funderburk appeared as head of household in the census enumerated June 17, 1880 at 4, Clark County, AR. Information was found on Page 389D, Sheet 20, ED 30, Amity Township, Dwelling, 186, Family 19. He married Cynthia Elizabeth Davis on March 12, 1885 at Thompson Twp, Pike County, AR. John Harrison Funderburk died on April 30, 1923 at Thompson Twp, Pike County, AR, at age 81. He was buried at Hicks Cemetery, Murfreesboro, Pike County, AR.
