Kirkland , Jr. In the history of the 16th South Carolina regiment, Taylor write s that Captain Samuel McKittrick was killed in the Battle of Atlanta on 22 July 1864 and Pliny League marked his grave and that of Private Joshua League (killed in action 1 September 1864, Jonesboro, Ga.), then after the war returned to bring their bodies back home for burial. Joshua was buried at Clear Spring Baptist Church Cemetery, Greenville County, S. C. and Captain McKittrick was buried in the Fairview Presbyterian Church Cemetery 'where more than 50 other Confederate soldiers were interred', a few miles southeast of Simpsonville, S. C. |
