Will Book A page 95. Last Will and Testament of William B. Hagood. Dated May
2nd 1876. "That after my just debts and funeral expenses are paid, what
property God has intrusted me to hold shall be divided among my beloved
children as follows. My homestead on which I now reside and is described as
the East half of (the) South West quarter of section seventeen in Township
five South of Range twenty-three West in Pike County, Arkansas shall be
divided into four equal parts by parallel lines running north and south and
the first lot on the east side I give to my daughter Sarah M. Adams and the
next to my daughter Susan D. Hagood and the next to my daughter Nancy W. Lay
and the next to my daughter Martha A. Hagood." He then bequeaths personal
property. "I appoint my sons Thomas C. Hagood and George H. Hagood my
executors and request that they carry out this my last bequest faithfully.
I also appoint my much respected friend and neighbor Robert S. Burke to
assist in the division of the above mentioned property." Witnesses, Franklin
Good, Albert G. Jones (and) A. Standlee. I hereby certify that this is a
true copy of William B. Hagood's last Will and Testament, signed and
witnessed in my presence on the 2nd day of May 1876 in Pike County, Clark
Township at his residence. L.P Holmes, J.P. The witnesses named testify
before said (L.P.) Holmes J.P. that said (William) Hagood did sign said
instrument &c. in their presence and that he was in his proper mind at the
time. Date(d) June 2nd 1876. July 3rd 1876. L.P. Holmes appears before (the)
Clerk of (the) Circuit Court and May 14th 1877, A.S. Standlee and F. Good
appear before M.W. Hill, clerk of (the) Circuit Court and they being first
duly sworn each depose and say, that they saw said William B. Hagood sign
his name to the annexed paper &c. and heard him declare the same to be his
last Will &c., that they signed said instrument in his presence and in the
presence of each other, and that said (William) Hagood was of sound and
disposing mind and more than twenty-one years of age &c.
