Will Book A page 65. Last Will and Testament of James Cogburn of Pike
County, Arkansas. Dated June 28th 1871. He bequeaths and wills to James
Lafayette Cogburn (and) Manday Suffrona Cogburn the tract of land by them
paying to Elizabeth Porter ten dollars, known in the plan of survey as (the)
North West quarter of the South East quarter fractional and the North East
quarter of the South West quarter of section Thirteen in Township Four of
Range Twenty-seven containing eighty acres in Montgomery County. "I give and
bequeath to Elzada, Andrew Jackson, Lucinda, (and) Leander Cogburn the place
where I now live with all the appurtenances thereto belonging and all the
stock which I now hold, together with all the farming tools and blacksmith
tools and all the house furniture. I will and bequeath to George Washington
Cogburn the 'som' of one hundred dollars in money and my money, credits, and
'affects' otherwise to be expended for the use of my family as they 'kneed'
it until the youngest 'air' becomes of age and if 'their' is anything left,
I want it equally divided to the three youngest." Probate Court July Term
A.D. 1871. Before the Judge personally came J.C. Parker and James A. Savage
two of the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing instrument and they first
being duly sworn depose and say, that James Cogburn signed said instrument
in their presence and that they signed the same in his presence and in the
presence of each other at the request of said (James) Cogburn and that they
believe the said (James) Cogburn to have been in his right mind at the time
of signing the same and that he declared said instrument of writing to be
his last Will and Testament and that his residence at the time of his death
was in Pike County, Arkansas. Signed by Robert A. Cox, County Judge.
