Washington July 19, 1839
In consideration of the sum of Fifteen Hundred and twenty five Dollars, the
receipt of which I do hereby acknowledge, I, Asa Thompson of the County of
Pike and State of Arkansas, have this day sold and delivered and do hereby
sell to John Shook of the County of Hempstead and State aforesaid, two
Negro Boys, one about Eleven Years old and named Ben, the other Fifteen
years of age and named Harry, both of dark complexion. To have and to hold
the said Negroes to the said John Shook, his heirs and assigns forever to
the said John Shook from the claim of the said Asa Thompson, his heirs and
all other persons whomsoever, and also that they are Slaves for life and
sound and healthy. Witness my hand and seal this day and date above written.

the County aforesaid, do hereby Certify that the annexed and foregoing
instrument of writing was filed for Record in my office on the 2d day of
August A.D. 1839 and the same is now duly recorded in "Record Book D" page
470.
In Testimony Whereof I have hereunot set my hand and affixed the seal of my
office at Washington the 2d dayof August in the Year of our Lord one
thousand Eight hundred and thirty nine and of the Independence of the United
States the 64th.
