Preemption Proof
Be it remembered, that, on the 13th day of January in the year 1840, Isaac
White of the County of Pike in the State of Arkansas, personally came before
me, the undersigned, a justice of the Peace within and for the County of
Hempstead in the State, aforesaid; and being by me duly sworn, Deposeth and
says:
That, in the year Eighteen hundred and twenty-nine, he cultivated a portion
of the public Lands of the United States upon a tract known and designated
as the South East quarter of Section twenty, in Township Eight, South of
Range twenty five, West, in the District of Lands subject to sale at
Washington, Arkansas; and that at that time he resided with his family upon
an adjoining tract known and designated as the South West quarter of Section
twenty one, in the same Township and Range; and that in same year he
cultivated on said First described tract about fifteen acres principally in
corn; and that he still resided as above stated, had possession of, and
resid(ed), occupied, and cultivated the tract first above named on the
twenty ninth day of May, 1830; and that he still continues to have
possession of, use, and cultivates the same. And further says not.

And at the same time and place, personally came Rice Stringer and John
Hughes, who being duly sworn state on oath: that they are personally well
acquainted with the above name affiant, Isaac White, and that they know the
matters and things set forth in his above affidavit to be true in substance
and in fact, and further say not.
