Will Book A page 98. Last Will and Testament of Elijah W. Kelley. Dated May
7th 1877. After all my just debts are paid, the rest of my property with
the land and everything belonging thereunto shall belong to my widow on
till (sic) the rest of the children become of age or marry, then I will
E.L. Kelley fifty Dollars, Samuel J. Kelley, fifty dollars for the purpose
of buying them a horse apeace (sic). I also will Mary E. Kelley and
Martha A. Kelley each a cow & calf and if Elizabeth Kelley my widow should
marry again, the property sell (shall) belong to the minors till they
become of age, and after that, the property shall be equally divided
amongs (sic) all the heirs, but if she remain my widow, she shall hold the
property till her death, and after her death shall be equally divided
amongst all of my heirs, this is my will. Witnesses, J.H. Stell (and) G.C.
Griffin. Proved by J.H. Stell and G.C. Griffin before W.B. Thomasson, Clerk
&c. February 16th 1878.

Pioneer Local Man Died in Oklahoma
A.H. (Uncle Ab) Kelley, aged about 79, died at the home of his daughter,
Mrs. Betty McCoy, in Broken Bow, Oklahoma Tuesday (March 23, 1937) after an
illness extending over a period of several months. Deceased made his home
here practically all his life and was well known and liked by everyone in
the community. He was one of Delight's pioneer settlers. He is survived by
a daughter Mrs. Betty McCoy of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; two sisters Mrs. E.B.
Wingfield and Mrs. L.J. Lamb both of this place; and one brother Giles
Kelley of this place. The body was returned here Thursday morning for
burial. Funeral services, in charge of Eld. J.A. Copeland, were held at the
church of Christ and burial was in the local cemetery Thursday afternoon.

Aged Pike County
Citizen Died Suddenly
Giles Kelley, aged 95, lifelong resident of Pike county died suddenly at
his home here Tuesday. Mr. Kelley, one of Pike county's oldest citizens and
one of the last of the Confederate war veterans had been in fairly good
health until his sudden death, which was contributed to an heart attack.
Deceased died within only a short distance of the place of his birth and
had never resided outside the county. He was a successful farmer and took
an active interest in church and civic affairs until his advanced age
prevented.
He is survived by one brother Sam Kelley of Elk City, Oklahoma; two
sisters, Mrs. L.J. Lamb and Mrs. E.B. Wingfield of Delight; seven sons,
Barnett of Dumat, Oklahoma; S.C. of Delight; Giles A. of Oklahoma City,
Oklahoma; Arlos of Parson, Arkansas; Harold of Nashville; Hugh of
Murfreesboro and Alvin of California; six daughters, Mrs. Bettye Nash,
Miss Maude Kelley and Mrs. N.A. Lamb of Delight; Mrs. W.E. McWha of
Glenwood, Mrs. G.M. Parsons of Abilene, Texas and Mrs. Emma Slaughter of
Pottsboro, Texas. He is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great
grandchildren and other relatives and friends. He was Phillip Kelley's,
grandfather.
Funeral services in charge of J.A. Copeland, minister Church of Christ, of
Hope, were held at the Church of Christ here Wednesday. Burial in charge of
the Kelley Funeral Home of Glenwood was in the local cemetery.
