January Term A.D. 1846
This day came into Court Solomon Melson by Field his attorney and presented
his petition stating that John Ballew died some time in the year 1839
leaving the following children, viz: Solomon F. Ballew aged about 15 years
(who appeared and moved the Court that Solomon Melson be appointed his
guardian), Jane Ballew aged about 12 and Nancy aged about Eight. Whereupon
the said Solomon Melson as Guardian tendered his Bond to said means with
Washington G.O. Melson as his security in the sum of One Hundred and fifty
Dollars, which Bond is approved by the Court, and on motion of the said
Solomon Melson, it is ordered that he be appointed Guardian of the said
Solomon F. Ballew, Jane Ballew and Nancy Ballew.
