William J. Jones as administrator of the estate of Absalom Jones, deceased,
Petitioner.
vs.
Garrett Ledlow and Mary B. his wife, Tho's D. Jones, Benjamin F. Jones, John
E. Graham, Sarah Ann Jones, and the unknown heirs of Nancy Roberts deceased,
Defendants.
Petition For Sale of Slaves.
And now at this day came said Petitioner by Hubbard & Hempstead; his
attorneys, and filed his petition herein, praying among other things for an
order of sale of the following named slaves, belonging to said estate, to
wit: Starling, Else and Lewis, to pay the debts of said estate; and it
appearing from the affidavit of the said Petitioner filed with said
petition, that Garret Ledlow and Mary F. his wife, John E. Graham, and the
unknown heirs of Nancy Roberts deceased, are non-residents of the State of
Arkansas; it is ordered that notice be given said non-resident defendants,
and unknown heirs, of the pendency of this petition by publication of this
order in the "Arkansas State Gazette," a newspaper published in this State,
for the number of times and within the time prescribed by law; that unless
they be and appear before the court here by themselves or counsel, on or
before the first day of the next term thereof, at a court to be holden at
the courthouse in the town of Murfreesborough, in said county of Pike and
State aforesaid, on the third Tuesday of April next; and plead, answer, or
demure to said petition the same will be taken for confessed and the order
prayed for accordingly granted.
