Probate Book 1 page 421. In Vacation. November 21st 1859. George Reid states
and represents that he on the ___ day of November 1859 took letters of
administration on the estate of Baalam Bullock of Pike County, Arkansas
lately deceased; that there is considerable personal property &c., Etc., and
he prays for an order to sell said personal property. The facts verified by
affidavit. The prayer of the petitioner is by the Court granted. Probate
Book 1 page 435. January Term 1860. Administrator presents bond for $1400
and the same is by the Court approved. Probate Book B page 426. In the
matter of setting aside Dower to Mary J. Tidwell late Mary J. Bullock this
day came by attorney Peterson B. Tidwell and presented his petition stating
and representing that Baalam Bullock died in March 1859 &c., seized and
possessed of the following real estate, to wit: the East 1/2 (of the)
Southeast 1/4, Southwest 1/4 (of the) Southeast 1/4, and (the) Northeast 1/4
(of the) Southeast 1/4 (of) Section 4, Township 8, Range 26 containing 160
acres, value about $320; that he left surviving him his widow Mary Jane now
the wife of this petitioner, and also as his heir Mary Margaret Bullock who
has no guardian. He would further state that letters of Administration have
been granted to George Reid upon the estate of said decedent; that said
administrator has paid to said Mary Jane her interest in the personal estate
of said deceased; and praying that an order that said administrator
(George) Reid (and that a guardian ad litem be appointed for said Mary
Margaret Bullock) and that they (administrator and guardian ad litem) may be
made defendants to this petition; further praying that dower may be assigned
to his said wife that of the real estate of said (Balaam) Bullock deceased;
that commissioners be appointed &c. James H. Howard is appointed said
guardian ad litem and Michael Carroll, H.W. Carter, and Caleb Halcombe are
by the Court appointed Commissioners to assign dower &c., to report at the
next term of this Court. Probate Book B page 435. April 28, 1868.
Commissioners report that they have laid the dower to Mary Tidwell widow of
Baalam Bullock: commencing at the Northeast corner of the Southeast 1/4 (of)
Section 4, Township 8, Range 26 West running West 53 (&) 1/3 Rods, thence
South 1/2 mile to the corner, thence East 53 (&) 1/3 Rods, thence North 1/2
mile to the beginning corner, containing 53 (&) 1/3 acres. The Court
approves said report. Probate Book B page)567. July 25th 1870. Administrator
files his final account and settlement and asks to be discharged &c., said
settlement is in all things confirmed by the Court and the said
administrator is by the Court discharged.
