This document is in the posession of my great-uncle who lives in San
Antonio, Texas. It was scanned by my father and sent to me ... I am still
looking for corroberating proof, but at the very least this document would
be of interest to the descendants of Martha KELLEY. (It is) one of the

exciting experience to begin discovering your family ancestry. Thank you

this file and forward to me?

I will be making a scan of a picture of Andrew Armstrong Stell and Martha

Thank you, once more. I have contacted Clark County, Arkansas and as soon
as they get my check they'll send me a copy of the record. Thrilling.

Also the photograph of A.A. Stell and Martha Kelley was very interesting.
The age difference is very obvious there--I wonder if he was married
before. It would be odd, at least to me, were he not because people simply
didn't make it to 50 without having been married. Well, that is yet another
question for another day.

Also thank you for the lead on the Robert McMahan-Kelley record in the deed
(volume) in Illinois. I'll contact them and find out if they have as ready
access to these ... as they do for wills and marriages--if so I'll get a
copy and if you need one I'll of course send it.

Mr. Kelley, your help is greatly appreciated.

                      Mrs. Rutherford Died Wednesday.
Had Been a Resident of Murfreesboro For Ten Or Twelve Years
                            Buried At Antoine.

Mrs. Mary E. Rutherford died here Wednesday morning at 5:10 a.m. (February
22, 1928) from a stroke of paralysis suffered early Tuesday evening, at the
age of 69 years. She is survived by three sons, Charles H., Assistant
Cashier of the Pike County Bank, Will, and Stell B., traveling
representative of McCormick & Co., all of Murfreesboro, two daughters, Mrs.
N.C. Hare, of Murfreesboro, and Mrs. Tom East, of Peoria, Illinois, and the
following brothers, J.H. and R.W. Stell of Delight, S.B. Stell, of Hot
Springs, J.T. Stell, of Redland, California, D.A. Stell, of Murfreesboro,
and Charles E. Stell of Durant, Oklahoma, and six grandchildren. Mrs.
Rutherford was the young daughter of Capt. A.A. and Emily (Wingfield)
Stell, and was born at Stelltown, near Delight, on April 30, 1858. She was
married to Dr. R.H. L. Rutherford on April 7, 1875. Dr. Rutherford, who was
one of Southwest Arkansas' leading physicians, died at Antoine on Dec. 20,
1900, where Mrs. Rutherford continued to reside until about 1914 when she
moved to Murfreesboro. Funeral services were held here at the Methodist
church, by the pastor, the Rev. J.D. Montgomery, and interment was had in
the cemetery at Antoine, Thursday afternoon. She was one of the oldest and
most devoted members of the Methodist church of which she had been a member
for many years. Mrs. Rutherford's father, Capt. A.A. Stell, who was
prominently identified with the development of Pike county for more than
three-quarters of a century, was born on December 18, 1820 in Morgan
county, Georgia, the son of Joseph and Isabella Stell, both natives of
Georgia. His father, Joseph Stell, was a planter and teacher and served in
the Florida and Cherokee wars. Capt. Stell came to Arkansas with his
parents ... (about 1840) settling in Clark county, where he lived some few
years (three) before settling in Pike County. He was married on (December
30, 1847) to Emily Wingfield, a native of Pike county, who died September
1, 1859. On July 25, 1861, he was married to Martha E. Kelley, daughter of
Robert and Sarah Kelley, who died in 1911. Capt. Stell served in the
Confederate Army as a member of Co. G. Craven's Regiment, under Gen.
Thomas J. Churchill, returning to his home (in) May, 1865, where he lived a
useful life until his death on February 22, 1912, in his ninety-third year.
He served as Justice of the Peace in his Township for ten years, and as
Coroner of Pike county for a period of ten years. The passing of Mrs.
Rutherford marks the departure of another of Pike county's oldest
native-born and highly respected citizens, and of one whose pleasant
smiles, cheerful disposition and kind words will be sadly missed by her
relatives and host of friends.

Fine - David and Roy it is.

Thank you kindly. I am attempting for about the fifth time to send you a
reply; my computer has crashed the previous four times and I asked Jennifer
to thank you just in case this decided not to work yet again.

I sent Jennifer the CD-ROM with full bitmap scans (both "raw" and partially
restored) of the Stell-Craighead documents I have. The documents themselves
are in quite ragged condition, and I thought it best to have full image
maps made and archived. I also sent Jennifer photographic reproductions of
the restored documents.

As I said before, your help is greatly appreciated. Do you know what is
necessary to post this information on the www.familysearch.com?

Roy

Hi Roy

It is good to hear from you again. I do understand the computer crashes. I
had a major one beginning March 15 and have been working since to recover
files and in some cases it was necessary to reach out to others I had
shared files and information with to restore some of the loss. The recent
page files I set up for Pike County research are intact because they were
on a server but some of the files were a little out of date and a require
updating again.

Without checking www.familysearch.com I believe you can submit your own
GEDCOM file with your family genealogy created from a genealogy program
like PAF (Personal Ancestral File) or FTM (Family Tree Maker). Whether
this can be done by attaching a file to email or you have to mail in a
diskette, I am not certain. Several years ago (1989) while in Salt Lake
City I visitied the Family History Department and left a diskette of my
genealogy which was put into the Ancestral File Database (and) you could
mail them in as well. Why not send email to them and find out. They will be
glad to help you.

I hope your computer trials are over for now.
