Mrs. Parker Died Last Sunday Night
Mrs. Florinda A. Parker, aged 83 years, died suddenly at her home in this
city, near midnight last Sunday night (March 14, 1926). Nothing unusual had
been noted in her condition when she retired for bed, but about 12 o'clock
that night she appealed for aid, but was found to be suffering from some
supposed affection of the heart, and died before the arrival of a physician.
Mrs. Parker was the wife of the late A.W. Parker, and daughter of Hiram
Buchanan and Emily (Higgins) Buchanan. She was born in Fayetteville,
Lincoln county, Tenn., June 9, 1842, moved to Clark county, Arkansas about
1847. (She) was married to Alexander Wilson Parker, March 17, 1867, at Red
Land, (now Kirby) and lived near there until Feb. 1889. There was born to
this union nine children, two dying in infancy, one at eleven. Six are yet
living. The family moved to Murfreesboro in 1889, where they lived until
the death of her husband April 2, 1911. She continued to live at their old
home until March 15, 1926, when the Lord saw best to call her home to be
with him. She was a great believer in the (Bible) and spent much of her
time reading same. A beautiful (page torn) ... mother, and grandmother,
(page torn) ... everybody. She is survived by six children - Mrs. Mary E.
Branch of Nashville, Mrs. Lovie F. Kinsworthy of Ashdown, Henry A.,
Charlie, and Joe Parker of Murfreesboro, and George J. Parker of Hot
Springs. Also a brother at Weatherford, Tex. Nineteen grandchildren and 8
great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted by Revs. Cagle and
Cornish in the local (Murfreesboro) cemetery Monday afternoon.
