Mrs. Rosa Kelley, aged 64 years, passed away at her home in Murfreesboro,
Monday, Feb. 20th (1928), at 9:00 o'clock. Deceased was born in the Kelley
settlement, about three miles west of Murfreesboro, and has made this her
home practically all her life. She suffered a stroke of paralysis about two
years ago from which she never recovered, gradually growing worse and until
a few days ago seemingly was doing well, but pneumonia set in and in her
weakened conditioned she lasted only a short time. Deceased professed faith
in Christ in 1886, and joined the Christian church, and lived a faithful
Christian life. Her presence will be missed in the home, in the church, and
in the town. A devoted and christian character, a sacrificing and loving
mother, a good and faithful wife, the relatives and community as a whole has
suffered an irreparable loss, that will take time to heal over. On December
18th, 1884, the deceased was married to F.F. Carter, and to this union were
born three children, all of whom survive. They are Charley and Schley Carter
of Murfreesboro and Ollie Carter of Florida. Her husband, F.F. Carter, two
brothers, Warren and George Kelley survive her. Funeral services were held
at the Christian church Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, and burial was had
in the local cemetery after the services. Rev. N.J. Reese of Center Point
officiating.
