Know All Men By These Presents:
That I, John Hoofman of the County of Clark and Territory of Arkansas, for
and in consideration of the natural love and affection which I bear to John
Babbit my grandson by my daughter Elizabeth Hoofman's intermarriage with
Sandford Babbit, about three weeks old, the child of the said Sandford
Babbit and his wife Elizabeth as aforesaid, who are now residents of the
County and Territory aforesaid, as well as for the further sum of One Dollar
to me in hand paid by the said John Babbit at or before the ensealing and
delivering of these presents, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged,
have this day given and granted to him and his heirs begotten by him, and by
these presents do give and grant to him, the said John Babbit and to his
heirs as aforesaid, one certain bay mare eight years old, fourteen hands and
one half high, Two cows and calves, to have and to hold the said mare and
cows & calves with their future increase, to him & his heirs as aforesaid,
executors, administrators and assigns forever. Nevertheless, if he, the
said John Babbit shall die without issue, from then the said mare, cows and
calves with their increase, shall revert back to me, my heirs, executors,
administrators and assigns. And I hereby bind myself, my heirs, executors,
administrators and assigns to warrant and forever defend the right and
title of said mare and cows & calves and their increase as aforesaid, to the
said John Babbit and his heirs &c. as aforesaid, against all claims of any
person or persons, whatsoever.
In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 19th day of
May A.D. 1834.

This day personally appeared before me Isaac Ward one of the acting Justices
of the Peace in and for the county aforesaid, William M. Wingfield whose
name is hereunto subscribed as a witness, and after being first duly sworn,
states on oath: that he saw the said John Hoofman sign the within deed of
gift from him to John Babbit and heard him acknowledge the same to be his
act and deed for the uses and purposes therein mentioned and expressed.

I, Isaac Ward, Clerk of the Circuit Court and exofficio recorder for said
county, do hereby certify that the foregoing deed of gift from John Hoofman
to John Babbit with the proof thereof taken by Isaac Ward, a Justice of the
Peace, thereon endorsed, was this (day) produced to me in my office and
ordered to be recorded which is duly done.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand as Clerk and exofficio
recorder for said county this 19th day of May A.D. 1834 and of the
independence of the Unites States the 58th.
