sick on the battle field of Suffolk, Virginia in May 1862 and was 
afterwards put on detached service at the camps of instruction and 
convalescence ... that he well remembers Joe Parsons the soldier above 
named, that they were reared up boys together in the same neighborhood in 
Cherokee County, Alabama and that he did not desert the service." Wiley G.

honorably discharged ... from such service on or about the end of the war 
as he served until the end of the war and then came home ... my husband 
died (the) 5th day of December 1902. I further state that Elijah Oliver 
Price and E.O. Price is one and the same person and that my husband 
enlisted in Elyton, Alabama." Affidavit of Mattie Belcher of Enid, Garfield 
County, Oklahoma (July 15, 1930) ... that her maiden name was Mattie Love; 
that she is a sister of Nannie Price whose post office address is 
Nashville, Arkansas, Route 3, that the said Nannie Price is now about 
eighty-one years of age; and is the widow of Elijah Oliver Price. Affiant 
further states that she was acquainted with Elijah Oliver Price on and 
prior to the date that he married the sister of said affiant, whose maiden 
name was Nannie Love, and that she was present and witnessed the marriage 
of her sister, Nannie Love to the said Elijah Oliver Price, and that she 
knows of her own knowledge that Nannie Price was the sole and only wife of 
Elijah Oliver Price, that the said Elijah Price died about twenty-five 
years ago ... that the said Nannie Love and Elijah Oliver Price were 
married in Blount County, Alabama." Nannie Price died October 12, 1930,

being a member of Company H., 43 Regiment of Infantry Volunteers, from the
State of Alabama, that he died on the 27 or 28 of March 1865 from gunshot
wound of the left lung received at the battle of Hatcher's Run, Virginia,
25 day of March 1865 ... that she was remarried to Silas Morphew at Walker
County, Alabama, December 31, 1868, and that he died at Pike County,
Arkansas on the 30 day of March, 1906." (Marriage Certificate) State of

dead, and did not desert the service, but died while in the service in the
line of his duty at White Sulphur Springs, near Pine Bluff, in Southeastern
Arkansas, on or about the 14 day of February, 1863 and that his widow Mary
Sevier, nee Dillard ... has been a bona fide resident of the State of
Arkansas; that his knowledge of these facts comes from a five year
acquaintance with the said Peter C. Sevier prior to his enlistment as
aforesaid ... and a life-long acquaintance with his widow the said Mary
Sevier, nee Dillard, and the applicant herein and that she has not since

and Sarah J. Sevier, aged 82 years citizens of Pike County, Arkansas "well
acquainted with applicant's husband Peter C. Sevier and knew him ... Louis
F. Thompson, seven years and James C. and Sarah J. Sevier, all of their
lives prior to the death of Peter C. Sevier on or about February 14, 1863.
That our knowledge of these facts comes from a lifelong acquaintance with
the said Peter C. Sevier and his widow Mary C. Sevier applicant herein ..."

past 46 years have been a bona fide resident of this State, except the 
years 1911 and 1912 visiting my brother and sister in Texas, and the years 
1913, 1914, 1915, and 1916 visiting my son Ola Thompson in Colorado ... 
that my said husband Eli Thompson died at his home near Kirby, Pike County, 
Arkansas on or about the 1 day of March, 1886; that on or about February 
1887, I was married to one A.J. Adams, who deserted me and our home in 
1891, that I have no knowledge of him, his whereabouts or destiny since 
that time, now 26 years ago, that he is supposed to be dead, that I have

the said Eli Thompson in the spring of the year 1886, or 12 years prior to 
his death ... he knew the claimant herein, Nancy A. Adams as the widow of 
the said Eli Thompson, up to the day of her remarriage to one A.J. Adams in 
the spring of the year 1887, and that the said A.J. Adams deserted her and 
their home sometime during the year 1891 and that they have not resumed 
marriage relations since, and that he has not heard anything of, nor has he 
any knowledge of the whereabouts of the said A.J. Adams for the last past

spring of the year 1886 ... that he knew the said Nancy A. Thompson ... as 
the widow of the said Eli Thompson up to her remarriage in the spring of 
the year 1887 to one A.J. Adams, who deserted her and their home sometime 
during the year 1891 ... that they have not since resumed marriage 
relations ... whereabouts and destiny of the said A.J. Adams has been 
unknown to him ... for the last 26 years; and that she has not remarried, 
and is still living and resides in Self Creek Township, Pike County, 
Arkansas." James C. Yeargan now aged 50 years and J.H. Faulkner, aged 68 
years, citizens of Pike County, Arkansas (June 22, 1917) "well acquainted 
with applicant Mrs. Nancy A. Adams, formerly the widow of Eli Thompson, 
deceased, and have known her 33 and 43 years, respectively." Eli Thompson 
served in Company K, 42nd Alabama Infantry.
