Church Record.
Ministry of John H. Hile
for the year 1885.
The ministry of John H. Hile began in Dec. 1884 and ended Nov. 1885. Bro.
Hile preached every 4th Lord's day that health and weather would admit
dividing the time between Antioch and the congregation at New Hope, at which
place he organized a congregation of believers in Christ.
On Saturday before the 4th Lord's day in Oct. (1885) Bro. Hile began a
protracted meeting; during the first week of which Bro. J.R. Jones did most
of the preaching, and did it eloquently. The meeting, 2 weeks, with the work
for the year, closed with Bro. R.P. Threlkeld & W.R. Barnett preached at
intervals during the year.

Church Record.
June 9th, 1894.
Antioch, Pike County, Arkansas. The Church met according to appointment and
the following business was transacted. The congregation thought it best to
have a plurality of Elders. Whereupon (on) motion Bros. John A. Lamb and
J.D. Kirkham were elected Elders to assist in feeding and having the
oversight of the flock. On motion Bro. Elijah Kelley was elected Church
Clerk and received the Church Record. Bro. D.A. Brown who had been amiss in
duty promised the Church if elected Deacon he would reform his life and do
right. On motion he was elected Deacon to fill the vacancy made by Bro. John
A. Lamb being elected Eld(er). Sister Sallie Lamb who had been influenced to
engage in dancing became sorry and repented of the same and made her
acknowledgements to the Church through Bro. J.A. Lamb her brother in the
flesh.
The present officers of Antioch Congregation are C.W. Threlkeld, W.H.
Kirkham, J.S. Wilson, J.D. Kirkham and J.A. Lamb, Elds. and D.A. Brown, G.W.
Reid, Deacons and Elijah Kelley, Church Clerk.

July 14th 1894.
The Church of Christ at Antioch met according to appointment for the purpose
of restoring those that was out of the way; there was those that made their
acknowledgements and was restored to full fellowship to wit: Bro. Belton
Barrong, Albert Emmerson, and Elmore Wingfield; and Bro. Robert Doss made,
who had been amiss in duty, made his confession at the young men's prayer
meeting and was reported to the church on the third Lord's day in July 1894.

The Church met according to appointment to begin a protracted meeting which
closed on Thursday night; following, the preaching was conducted by Bro. Wm.
Thompson and Bro. Champion. There was 10 additions, 9 by confession and 1 by
fellowship.

Friday night before the second Sunday in July 1900 and continuing until the
third Lord's day night; the result was 8 added to the Church by confession
and baptism.

previous appointment in a protracted meeting conducted by Bro. William
George beginning on Saturday night before the first Lord's day in July 1901
and continuing until the second Lord's day night; the result was eighteen
added to the Church; there was 13 by confession and baptism and 4 that had
been out of duty confessed their faults.

Antioch, Pike County, Arkansas, July 1903. The Church met according to
previous appointment in a protracted meeting conducted by Bro. E.N. George,
Bro. Willie George's father, beginning on Saturday night before the first
Sunday in July and closed on Saturday (as recorded) morning at the
waters-edge. The result was eight added to the Church, six con(fessions) and
bap(tisms); one restored and one by letter. There was two out of the six
that was baptized from the Baptist. They believed and was baptized in the
name of the Lord Jesus.

about 17 days. There was 14 added to the Church. There seemed to be much
good done.

in Oct. 1912 in a protracted meeting. The meeting was conducted by Bro. C.F.
Reece. It continued over till the next Lord's day night. Resulted in one
addition and quite a lot of talking and reading among the Baptist.

Lord's day in July 1913 in a protracted meeting; continued for about fifteen
days. Resulted in one addition by confession and baptism, several restored.
A general meeting of the brethren and confessing their faults one to
another; quite a lot of good done. The meeting was conducted by J.M.
Lambert.
In May 1913 Dr. B.S. Stokes and Docia became dissatisfied with their baptism
and was baptized into the body of Christ by Bro. J.M. Lambert.

Lord's day in July 1914 in a protracted meeting; it continued over till
(the) second Lord's day night; conducted by Bro. Jeff Reese of Center Point,
Ark. Results, four additions, two by confession and baptism and two
restored. Bro. Reese is a good preacher and a Christian gentleman and much
and lasting good was manifested for the brethren and sisters in Christ.

On Sept. 6th 1914 the Congregation came together on Sunday night; preaching
by Bro. Jeff Reese and five noble souls was saved; three were baptized the
same night and two was restored; their names was Grady Alexander, Lige Lamb,
Arlis McBride were baptized; Mack Trout and Mrs. Cora Hemby restored.

third Lord's day night; conducted by Bro. Jeff Reece of Center Point, Ark.

Much good was manifested toward the Brothers and Sisters in Christ. Paid
Bro. Jeff Reece $35.00 for his work.
