Bounty Land Claim
State of Arkansas,
County of Clark,
On this 17th day of March A.D. 1851, personally appeared before me, William
M. Bruce, a Justice of the Peace, duly authorized to administer oaths within
and for the County of Clark and State of Arkansas, aforesaid, William
Gentry, age 63 years, a resident of Clark County in the State of Arkansas,
who being duly sworn according to law, declares: that, he, is the identical
William Gentry who was a private in the company commanded by Captain James
Gray in the 2nd Regiment of Tennessee Militia commanded by Col. Cocke in the
war with Great Britain; that, he, was mustered into service at Nashville,
Tenn. on or about the 28th of November A.D. 1814 for the term of six months
and continued in actual service in said war for the term of five months and
was honorably discharged at Dover, Stewart County, Tenn. on or about the
19th of April, A.D. 1815, on account of the expiration of his term of
office, as will appear by his original certificate of discharge, hereto
attached, and by the muster rolls of said company.
He makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the bounty land to
which he may be entitled under the "act granting bounty land to certain
officers and soldiers who have been engaged in the military service of the
United States" passed September 28th 1850.

Sworn to and subscribed before me the day and year above written. And, I,
hereby certify that I believe the said (William Gentry) to be the identical
man who served as aforesaid, and that he is of the age, aforesaid.

Discharge.
I certify, that William Gentry, has faithfully discharged a tour of duty in
the Militia to New Orleans under the command of Major General Carrol & was
honorable discharged.

I, Isaac W. Smith, Clerk (of) the Circuit Court, in and for the County and
State above mentioned, do hereby certify, that William M. Bruce, whose
signature appears above, is and was at the time of signing the same, a
Justice of (the) Peace in and for the County and State, aforesaid, duly
commissioned and sworn; that all his official acts as such are entitled in
full faith and credit, and that the aforesaid Circuit Court is a Court of
Record having general jurisdiction.
Given under my hand and seal of office at Arkadelphia, this 17th day of
March, A.D. 1851.

Power of Attorney
Know All Men By These Presents:
That, I, William Gentry, of the County of Clark and State of Arkansas, do
hereby irrevocably make, constitute, and appoint Charles S. Jordan of
Arkadelphia, Ark., my true and lawful attorney, for me and in my name, to
demand and receive from the Department of Interior of the United States, the
Certificate or Warrant, to which I am entitled for my Military services, as
set forth in the foregoing declaration, and for good and sufficient reasons,
do hereby revoke and countermand any and all others: power of attorney or
other authority, that may have been heretofore given by me.
In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal, this 17th day of
March, A.D. 1851.
