Another interesting picture of how the dam was poured in columns. The river was not diverted but allowed to continue to flow through openings in the structure as the sides were built up. Then the opening would then be poured to plug the water flow. The concrete forms would be moved up as the pouring progressed. You can see a sluice wall and openings in the concrete for water to flow through from control gates or generator discharge. Generator discharge was on the right side
